We will discuss “A Colony and a Nation” by Chris
Hayes. Marie will facilitate that conversation. We are looking for someone to bring the snacks, so please let me know if you can do so.
Please send any book ideas along so I can add them to the ever-expanding list. Because of very close votes this last time for our September read (which includes two different books, one very short), we have also chosen already for October. In August, we will vote for our November book. I think we might want to consider spreading our reading out among categories of issues/concerns. There
had been a number of votes this last time for books having to do with climate change/environmental issues, and someone mentioned that we should have a category of books on LGBT issues. I hope that part of our discussion might be about how we might focus our votes each time on certain categories so the voting
choices aren’t quite as overwhelming and unwieldy each month and so that we are exposed to a number of different issues on the activist agenda. Feel free to email me with your suggestions of how we might handle voting in the future.

Thursday, January 4 (this will likely be a fiction read, if we want to keep to
the idea of fiction every 4 months)
