Stand Out Against Gun Violence

Come and protest with us at the roundabout in Williamstown against gun violence. Join us from 5:00 to 6:30 — whenever you can get there. Bring your friends, bring your signs, bring your voices. Bring it all.

On Sunday night, a gunman opened fire on a concert crowd in Las Vegas. He murdered at least 58 people and injured more than 500 others, making the attack the deadliest mass shooting in American history. The victims join the voiceless thousands who have been the victims of gun violence this year. 46,597 shootings in 2017. 11,652 deaths. 545 injured or killed children.
It has to stop.
It is a simple and brutal fact that the easy availability of guns to everyone makes it more likely that someone who is disturbed or fanatical will be able to get a gun. More stringent gun conrol may not have been able to prevent any particular shooting, includng the Vegas massacre, but it would make them all less likely… and might help change a culture that blithely accepts dead children as the cost of a hobby.
